9 Steps to Opening

  1. Complete the Online Application Form

  2. Interviews & Presentation

    We want to learn more about you and give you a chance to learn some more about us. A member of our franchise sales team will arrange an online meeting to give you an in-depth overview of Press’d and answer any question you have. Additional meetings will follow as necessary.
  3. Information Review & Research

    At this time you will be provided with our Franchise Disclosure Document. This document contains detailed information about the Press’d franchise system to help you evaluate the opportunity. At the same time we will be evaluating the information you have provided us such as financial statements and credit/background checks.
  4. Head Office Visit

    A member of our franchise sales team will schedule a time for you to come visit us at head office in Edmonton, AB. During this visit you will meet with the executive team, take a behind the scenes look at what goes on in Press’d restaurants and have the opportunity to ask all your questions.
  5. Franchise Agreement

    At this point you should have all the information you need to make an informed decision about whether you want to become a Press’d franchisee. If you are approved by the executive team and wish to proceed we will prepare a franchise agreement for you to sign. The signed franchise agreement is then submitted along with the franchise fee.
  6. Site Selection

    Our real estate team is always in the marketplace looking for great opportunities. Once your franchise agreement is signed they will start working with you to find the perfect location for your franchise. The real estate team will provide you with comprehensive support including site identification, site analysis and lease negotiation.
  7. Training

    Once your site selection is completed and construction is underway you will complete 4 weeks of on-site training at one of our certified training restaurants followed by 3-5 days of management & administration training at our head office in Edmonton, AB.
  8. Final Setup

    Once construction is complete and you have been handed the keys to your new restaurant it’s time to get ready for opening. An experienced member of the Press’d operations team will be onsite for approximately a week before opening to assist with all the final setup, initial orders and staff training.
  9. Open for Business

    With everything else completed it is time to open your Press’d franchise. An experienced member of the Press’d operations team will remain onsite to assist during your opening week.

Training support

Restaurant Training

In the first part of the Press’d training program Franchisees spend 4 weeks working in a certified Press’d training restaurant where they will cover all aspects of daily restaurant operations including kitchen prep, line service, catering fulfillment, cash handling, customer service and facility maintenance.

Management Training

In part two of the Press’d training program Franchisees spend 3-5 days at head office learning the business side of owning a Press’d franchise. The focus during part two of training will be on management tasks such as hiring, training, scheduling, ordering, cash controls, inventory, cost control (food & labour), payroll, period end administration and business analysis.

On-Site Opening Assistance

An experienced member of the Press’d operations team will be on-site to assist you with the final setup the week before opening and they will remain onsite for opening week. We will make sure that nothing is missed leading up to your opening and that everything goes smoothly once the doors are open and the lineups appear.

Real Estate & Development

As we all know a good location is extremely important in this business. The Press’d real estate team is a group of highly experienced retail specialists that survey the market, analyze potential sites (traffic patterns, demographics, signage, visibility, accessibility) and negotiate leases to get franchisees the best sites at the best price. Once a site is secured the restaurant development team will handle all aspects of designing and building your restaurant including kitchen planning, interior design, construction, restaurant equipment, smallwares and permits to get your restaurant ready for opening.

Marketing Programs & Promotional Tools

The Press’d marketing team will make sure you have everything you need to make your Press’d restaurant as successful as it can be. You will be provided with tools to assist with your local store marketing initiatives, merchandising support for new and existing products, grand opening assistance and be a part of regional and national advertising and branding campaigns.

Centralized Catering Administration

Our catering administration department will handle all your catering administration for you, they will answer customer phone calls, get back to customer emails and enter all catering orders into your online catering portal. All you have to do is make the food and drop it off with the customers. The catering administration department will also collect payment for you and follow up on outstanding payments. We take on the administrative burden so that you can focus on running your restaurant.

Operational Reviews and Business Coaching

We really are in this together, your success is our success. To make sure you are getting the most out of your restaurant and it is operating efficiently our franchise support team will conduct regular business reviews with you to review past performance, set goals for the future and make sure your business is staying on track.


What is the royalty fee?

The royalty fee is 6% of sales payable to Press’d Franchising on a weekly basis.

How much is the marketing fund contribution?

The marketing fund contribution is 2% of sales payable to Press’d Franchising on a weekly basis.

Can I open a Press’d franchise with a partner?

You sure can.

What is the average size of a Press’d restaurant?

The average Press’d is 1,200 – 1,500 square feet, however we have built them as large as 2,300 square feet and as small as 412 square feet.

Is previous restaurant experience required?

No, while previous restaurant experience can sometimes be an asset it is not mandatory. We will teach you everything you need to know about the restaurant business during your training, the most important thing is to come ready and willing to learn.

Do I have to find my own location?

No, the Press’d real estate team will work to identify suitable locations in your area. Once you have decided on a location the real estate team will assist with securing the premises and negotiating the lease for you.

What is the length of the franchise agreement?

Press’d franchise agreements are for a period of 10 years and franchisees are granted the option to renew for an additional 10 years.
